Mastering flashcard creation with Noji

Updated over a week ago

Let’s explore how to create effective and visually engaging cards for all your study needs.

Step #1: Set Up a Deck

Start by choosing an existing deck or creating a new one. Think of decks as organizational folders for each subject, like Anatomy or Biology.

💡Cool Tip: Instead of dumping all your cards into one deck, set up main decks for each subject and add sub-decks for specific topics. This way, you can easily review related cards and see how different concepts connect.

To add sub-decks, tap the "+" button on your main deck. On mobile, swipe left to find this option.

Step #2: Create a New Flashcard

Once you’ve selected your deck, click the "Add Cards" button.

You’ll see a feature-rich editor where you can customize your flashcard. Don’t be overwhelmed—this editor is designed to make card creation straightforward and flexible.

Step #3: Add Text

You’ll see fields for both the front and back of your card. Keep your content clear and concise—break complex ideas into several cards to avoid confusion.

💡Cool Tip: Make you fully understand the material before creating a card. If needed, review the topic again or consult additional resources.

Features to Explore:

  1. Customize text color or highlight key terms.

2. Use basic text formatting options.

3. Add headings to organize your notes better.

4. Incorporate digital formulas.

5. Capture photos of text or handwritten notes (iOS users only for now).

Step #4: Incorporate Visuals

Visual elements significantly enhance memory retention. Enrich your flashcards with images or drawings.

Features to Use:

  • Or even draw something yourself!

💡Cool Tip: Including visuals like columns or graphs works best when added as screenshots.

Step #5: Use 'Fill-in-the-Blank'

The 'Fill-in-the-Blank' feature (Cloze) helps you focus on specific details by removing key terms, numbers, or dates. This method creates separate cards for each blanked-out piece of information.

Use hints by typing them after the closed word in “:: ::” for more guidance.

Step #6: Enable 'Reverse Cards'

Activating the 'Reverse Cards' feature allows you to review information from different perspectives, enhancing your understanding of definitions, vocabulary, and terms.

Get creative and enjoy your study sessions!
