When learning a card, it will naturally evolve through various stages, going from New to Mastered. Let's see how it works.
Card statuses with Spaced Repetition algorithm
When you just start learning a deck, all your cards will be counted by default as new or, in our terms, Not Studied.
Then, after you see the card for the first time and continue learning it, it will move to the Learning state. Basically, these are the cards you will see most of your time because you will need to review them frequently.
Once you've reviewed a card enough times, it will naturally move to the Mastered category. Mastered cards are basically the cards you've already memorised and should have no trouble recalling from memory. They will still be shown to you from time to time, but at much rarer intervals, to make sure you won't completely forget the material.
You can always check the number of each card's status in your Deck Preview page.
You will also see a total ratio of all your deck's cards by status. This will help you have an idea of your overall deck progress.
Card statuses with the Fast review algorithm
Fast review is a special algorithm that helps you quickly go through all your cards without the need to wait or review them multiple times, especially if you already know the card. So the statuses work a little bit differently here:
At the very start, all new cards will be in the Not Studied section.
Now it all depends on how you answer your card when reviewing it. It can either move to the Not quite section (if you still don't know it well enough) or directly into the next status:
If you already know the card, it will directly move to the Got it status - congratulations, you've now mastered it!
Filtering your cards
Alternatively, you can also filter your cards by the specific status: Not Studied, Learning or Mastered for Spaced Repetition or Not studied, Not quite or Got it - for Fat review algorithm.
For example, you can filter by Learning only, and then check which cards you have to pay more attention to during your studies.
We hope the new card statuses will help you get a better grasp of your learning journey!
